Riruako to register Nudo as separate party

The President of the National Unity Democratic Organisation (Nudo) is to register the party with the Electoral Commission of Namibia ahead of what is seen as a crucial Herero meeting at Otjinene, which is scheduled to discuss the party's future in the DTA alliance. Sources close to Kuaima Riruako, who is also Paramount Chief of the Hereros, said the outspoken leader would register Nudo as a political organisation on Friday.

Riruako, who had announced three weeks ago that he had resigned from the DTA, claims he has the support of the Herero people frustrated by the reluctance by the DTA leadership to support their actions. He is on a collision course with fellow Nudo leaders like Katuutire Kaura who have rejected Nudo's attempt to leave the alliance. Kaura, Chairman of Nudo and President of the DTA, said there were not sufficient reasons for Nudo to pull out of the alliance. (The Namibian, Windhoek)
